We would like to extend a BIG thank you to Castle Fine Art who very kindly loaned us the following three artworks to use in our photography.
Self Portrait: Naphthol Red. First up do take a close look at the very cool self portrait of PAUL STEPHENSON we used in some of our OCEAN images. With the red background we can't take our eyes off it... It's a silk screen on paper by contemporary London based artist Paul Stephenson. He's spent the last decade researching Andy Warhols working process to create his stunning After Warhol collection. We really want this...
Mini Marilyn 2: We wanted to keep this one too... A serigraph on hand made paper by Pop Art pioneer James Francis Gill. Merging iconography with startling colour, he is inspired by magazines like Time, Life and National Geographic. We selcted this image not only because we fell in love with it (the best way to choose any art) but also because of the way it enhanced the vibrancy of the colours in our Colour Pop fabric. A fabulous pairing.
The Drawn Blank Series by Bob Dylan: As one of the most influential artists of all time, Bob Dylan has sold more than 125 million records. He is now just as revered for his fine art, which offers a unique insight into the Nobel Prize laureate’s world. This Drawn Blank collection sees Dylan revisit drawings he made whilst on tour in the late 1980's and early 1990s, transforming each one with new colours and textures like the songs he continues to perform. This quote from Castle Fine Art sums up what we love about this piece “His brushstrokes are like his voice: straightforward, rough, occasionally fragile. He's not after artistic perfection but something larger, a moment, a feeling. The effect is enthralling.”
Poppies: This is a piece from our own personal collection. Poppies is painted by local artist Sally Seal and we are lucky enough to enjoy this everyday in our home. To us it brings back magical memories of childhood holidays in North Norfolk, and isn't that what all good art should do, transport you to a different time or place or feeling.
DANCE FLOOR: oh yes, a NEON sign. We had a disco ball but this is the icing on the DISCO cake... Love Inc is an awesome small business founded from love. Love for beautiful and original products in the world of Home Interiors. They started designing and manufacturing things that they couldn’t find anywhere else and that they knew our customers would love. We LOVE this sign. A lot. Too much!
