Service Description
7 - 9.30 pm on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th November. Welcome to the best hobby ever! Together you will learn how to set up and use your sewing machine, understand dressmaking terminology and patterns, practice all the basic skills you need to get started and .... make an elegant and simple party dress to wear! Perfect timing pre Christmas party season This is suitable for a beginner, someone a bit rusty or intermediate social sewer. The course will run over 4 weeks and each session is around 2.5 hours. There will be a little bit of homework too! The project: An elegant shift dress, think simple tunic style dress, fancy fabric! We will sew this project together, starting with preparing the pattern pieces, understanding sizing and how to make clothes that fit, cutting your fabric and sewing step by step. By the end you will be able to wear something you made! How wonderful. There are a few things you will need to bring along and we will provide the rest. What you will need: Sewing machine (if you don't have one we will help with advice for this) Notepad and pencil Fabric Scissors Fabric and matching thread for the project (2 metres approx required. We will help advise the best fabric type when selecting this) Pins and needles. We will provide: refreshments, the sewing pattern, fabrics and threads for practising.
